From test-driving new cars to trying out a variety of scooters and powerchairs on the indoor track, and experiencing the Team BRIT race simulations, there was so much to see and do at this year’s Motability Scheme Live, Birmingham. In our exclusive behind-the-scenes video, we caught up with visitors and exhibitors at the event, which took place at the NEC on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 May.

On the Lifestyle stand, visitors posed for the camera and became magazine cover stars. Can you spot yourself in the photos below? Speaker 1: We’ve been looking at cars because we are due to upgrade ours at the end of the year. So, I found the one that I'd like already and everybody on any stall is very helpful and very knowledgeable.

Speaker 2: I'm here to replace my lease hire car and get a lightweight wheelchair to go in such. I went through the chevrons

and all that. It was really light to steer and i was really happy with it.

Speaker 3: I am Adam from Monarch Mobility. We are here today at Motability’s Live Event.  We are here exhibiting our new products. We have the Onyx,

which is a class three road legal scooter and our newest folding scooter, which is the Smarti Plus, which is an automatic folding scooter. So we try our absolute best of course, to cater for everybody. It is a very, very difficult task, and that's why we see such a diverse range in products. That's why you see products of this size designed for people wanting to achieve a bit more mileage, a bit more comfort. And then right on the other end, we have our lightest

folding small scooters, which are better for convenience, for folding up and putting in the car.

Speaker 4:  My name is Noah Cosby. I'm a racing driver for Team Brit. Team Brit is an all-disabled racing team, so every single one of our drivers

have some sort of form of disability. And we're here today at the Motability Live Scheme event.  And we've got our McLaren 570S with us today. It's quite a special car,

say V8, about 600 horsepower. It's very fast. And just over to the left of me, we can let you have a go on our simulators, which feature our hand-controls that we have inside of our race car and it just gives you a taste of how we drive race cars without use of our legs and just an intro into you know, adaptive motor sport and what we're doing to pave a way into, you know, making a future in disabled motorsport.

Speaker 5: We've done test driving cars today. Just the Volvo XC40 today. I am due  to change cars in September. And that's the one that I've been looking

at. I’ve managed to drive it twice. It's just about drives. It's a light on steering. It's plenty of room inside, it's comfortable. The hand controls were perfect and so is everything about it really.

Speaker 5: My name is James, I work for GM Coachwork. We specialise in obviously wheelchair accessible vehicles. We're here obviously today with our new Kia PV5 wheelchair accessible vehicle. We've got 2 to 3 different conversions that we're now doing on the Scheme. So this one's obviously full electric that we've got here today averages around about 260 miles. So it's a very good kind of range and at the moment very popular, started very well here. We're using today is a bit of a trial to get feedbackfrom the customers and Motability. On the electric side of things, really.

Speaker 6: We’ve come to the Motability Live Scheme event to have a look at have at powerchairs and test-drive a few cars. Just have a look at what's available to us to help me in my day to day life. I'm very, very impressed with everything we've seen.
