Good access can make a day out enjoyable. But too often, poor access still gets in the way. Last year, almost 80% of disabled people said that access problems had spoiled a trip.
That’s why the Motability Scheme is supporting the Euan’s Guide Access Survey, the largest and longest-running survey of its kind in the UK.
Every response helps. Together, your voices build a picture of what access is really like today, and what needs to change.
Why your views matter
By taking part, you will:
- Make everyday life safer, easier and more enjoyable for others
- Show where small changes can make a big difference
- Support others by sharing your own experiences
The survey takes about 30 minutes and asks about places you use every day, from cafés and shops to stations, castles and visitor attractions.
What people told Euan’s Guide last year
Here’s a snapshot of the results from 2024:
- 78% were not confident about visiting new places because of access concerns
- 77% found venue websites confusing, misleading or inaccurate when checking access
- 70% were more likely to visit somewhere if staff were welcoming and cared about accessibility
- 62% avoided venues that did not share their access information
- 77% avoided places because they could not find information about accessible toilets
- 73% had found an “accessible” toilet that they could not use
How your voice helps
Your feedback is shared with venues, decision-makers and the wider public. Together, these voices push for better access everywhere.
Most importantly, your experience helps make going out safer, easier and more enjoyable for disabled people and their families.
Who are Euan’s Guide?
Euan’s Guide is best known for its review website, which holds thousands of reviews of disabled access written by disabled people and their friends.
They also run the Safer Toilets scheme, which helps make thousands of accessible toilets safer. And they lead the UK’s biggest Access Survey each year, supported by the Motability Scheme.
Why the Motability Scheme is supporting the survey
The Motability Scheme partnered with Euan’s Guide because the organisation believes in the importance of disabled voices being heard. By supporting this survey, the Motability Scheme can help make sure those voices influence real change.
It’s one more way the Motability Scheme is working to support your freedom and independence.
