Bath Christmas Market

Bath’s Christmas market is back, offering a festive atmosphere with accessibility in mind. You can wander through the heart of Bath’s historic city centre, which will be transformed into a winter wonderland with twinkling chalets, unique gifts and gourmet food and drink.

The market features wheelchair-accessible pathways, accessible toilets, and quiet zones/times for those with sensory sensitivities. Mobility aids are also available to hire.

Blue Badge parking is available nearby and assistance dogs are welcome.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try the wheelchair-accessible ice rink.

Christmas at the Botanics, Edinburgh

Joe Logue, Community Manager at Euan’s Guide, recommends this “calm, tranquil wintery wander”. The trail will feature new installations from international artists. You can also enjoy seasonal food from multiple street food vendors.

Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to borrow (free of charge), and seating is provided at regular intervals. Accessible toilets are located in the visitor centre and the Garden.

Hearing loops are installed at welcome points.

Itison Drive-In Movies, Loch Lomond Shores

Another favourite of Joe Logue, this drive-in event is perfect for a cosy family tradition. Christmas movie screenings include: Arthur Christmas, Elf, The Polar Express and It’s a Wonderful Life.

If you are arriving in a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), let the team know in advance – they will park you close to the onsite amenities.

Accessible toilets are available on-site, and assistance dogs are permitted.

A Magical Christmas Experience, Titanic, Belfast

Hosted in the well-known Titanic museum, this guided tour showcases Father Christmas and his Elves getting ready for their favourite night of the year. You can visit Mrs Claus in her kitchen, write and post your Christmas letter and peek into the toy shops where the Elves are hard at work.

Quiet sessions are available for families and children with autism or additional needs. To book one of these sessions call: +44 (0)28 9076 6386.

All circulation spaces at Titanic Belfast are fully accessible as are the Titanic Experience galleries and there is seating for rest points throughout. There are multiple accessible toilet facilities and there is a Changing Places facility. Carers also get a free ticket.

Alice: Return to Wonderland, Sherman Theatre, Cardiff

Writer Bethany Handley suggests this magical Christmas show in our Wonders of Wales travel feature. Set in Christmas Eve 1947, grown-up Alice is now a town planner working for the City of Cardiff who finds herself returning to Wonderland. Enjoy irresistible tunes and adventure. Suitable for ages 7+.

The main entrance of the Sherman Theatre has level access with assisted sliding doors and lifts provide access to all levels. Two accessible toilets are available, including an assisted toilet with changing facilities.

BSL interpreted, captioned and audio descriptive performances are available. You can also book a relaxed performance for more flexibility. Carers go for free with a Hynt Card.

The Snowman, Peacock Theatre, London

The magical stage adaptation of The Snowman returns with live music, dance, and enchanting storytelling.

The Peacock Theatre offers a customer lift to all levels, a platform lift at the main entrance, and a ramped alternative entrance. Designated wheelchair spaces are available in the Stalls and Dress Circle, with companion seating.

The theatre provides a hearing system via headsets. Assistance dogs are welcome.

You can join Sadler’s Wells Access for All Scheme, which allows you to get 50% off your ticket and 50% off an essential carer ticket if required.
