Sarah Gannon has written and illustrated a children’s book inspired by her seven-year-old daughter, Ciara, who has Charge syndrome and is deafblind. Sarah hopes to encourage readers to look past disabilities and see the strengths, abilities, and potential in every child.

The book, Just See Me: Seeing Beyond Difference, uses gentle rhyme and vibrant illustrations, which are designed to be engaging and accessible, particularly for children with visual and hearing impairments.

Charge syndrome is a rare genetic condition marked by a unique combination of physical and sensory challenges. Despite the medical complexities, Sarah says Ciara is “just a regular little girl who wants to play and connect with others”.

Just See Me is available on Amazon and at other major retailers. All proceeds go to the Anne Sullivan Foundation, Ireland’s national charity supporting deafblind people.

The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps disabled people moving. It’s delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
