"Firefly Bodycare began as a deeply personal project - one rooted in the desire to create something truly soothing for the skin, the senses and the soul," says founder Rachael Smith. "The idea grew from my son's struggles with eczema. I wanted to find a product that would nurture his delicate skin without harsh chemicals or synthetic ingredients." Soon Rachael - who is also a Motability Scheme customer - began creating her own skincare blends, drawing on her knowledge of essential oils and plant-based ingredients. After careful testing, she launched Firefly Bodycare in summer 2024.

Gentle products

"Living with my own disabilities has shaped how I experience the world and care for my body. This has made me mindful about creating products that offer gentle, calming relief without overwhelming the senses," says Rachael.

Promoting self-care

Being able to connect face-to-face with customers has been a highlight for Rachael. "I've had so many meaningful conversations with people who have shared how the products have helped their skin or their self-care routines, or just made them more comfortable in themselves," she says. Rachael is also an artist, working in ceramics, photography, painting and poetry, rooted in the themes of disability, connection and accessibility.
