The Motability Scheme has been invaluable to Rose and her late husband Martin, who was also a customer until he sadly passed away.

She says: “I am so lucky and blessed to have a Motability Scheme vehicle. I don’t know what I would do without it. It is so important for me to be able to get out.”

Rose previously worked in the local area in bookbinding, and then for various companies, such as the MOD and local university, until she was unable to work.

Now, she likes to garden, watch films and spend time with her sister and daughter, going out for lunch, and having days out.

MP Wera, says: “It’s been a pleasure to hand over the keys of her new Motability Scheme vehicle to Rose and wish her many hours of convenience, freedom, and independence in it.

“Congratulations to Motability Foundation and the Motability Scheme on yet another local happy customer, and for continuing to champion accessible transport for all.

“I also commend them for their work with government around the UK’s transition to electric vehicles, supporting them in the vital Zero Emissions Vehicles mandate targets, and working to remove barriers to accessibility across the public EV charging network.

“I wish them every success as they continue to navigate innovation so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose.”

Nigel Fletcher, CEO of the Motability Foundation, added: “There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, making up more than one fifth of the population. However, disabled people often struggle to make journeys due to a lack of access to transport and accessible transport options.

“Today, together with Motability Operations, we celebrate the independence the Motability Scheme provides for Rose.

“Thank you to Rose for highlighting the difference a Motability Scheme vehicle can make to disabled people’s lives. We are also grateful to Wera Hobhouse MP for her support of the Motability Scheme and the Motability Foundation.”

The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps disabled people moving. It’s delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
