Heading to Devon this summer? You may be pleased to know that there is now improved access for visitors of all ages and abilities at Blackpool Sands, near Dartmouth, thanks to a new boardwalk made entirely from recycled plastic. The eco-friendly path is the first of its kind in the South Devon National Landscape and was designed to help more people enjoy the beach's scenic views and shoreline.

The boardwalk was created using nearly 10 tonnes of difficult-to-recycle plastic waste - including crisp packets and bread bags - by The Plastic Company.

"This new path is already making a big difference," says Geoffrey Newman, of Blackpool Sands. "People are now able to reach parts of the beach that were previously inaccessible. It's great to see families, older visitors and wheelchair users making the most of it."

The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps disabled people moving. It’s delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
