STEP 1

Cut a heart shape from cardboard, about 16cm across. Trim two narrow strips, 2cm wide, wrap in tin foil and tape them around the heart to form a shallow rim. Line the inside with damp kitchen paper. Wrap ribbon around the edge and secure with glue.

STEP 2

Tip the cress seeds into a small glass and cover them with water. Leave for a few hours until they swell and turn slightly jelly-like.

STEP 3

Once the seeds have softened, spoon them evenly over the damp, heart-shaped paper.

STEP 4

Gently spread the soaked seeds to cover the surface. Place your seeded heart in a bright spot and mist it daily with a little water to keep the paper moist. In just a few days, you'll have a heart of fresh green cress.
