The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a guide called Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities: Guide for Action

It’s aimed at helping member states integrate people with disabilities into their health systems. This guide promotes inclusion and provides practical actions for ministries of health.

Developed in response to the 2022 global report on health equity, the guide looks at the disproportionate challenges disabled people face, including shorter lifespans and poorer health outcomes.

Meanwhile, a new human rights guide for young people with learning disabilities and autism, aged 14 to 25, has been released. Commissioned by the Local Government Association and the British Institute of Human Rights, it focuses on ensuring these individuals’ rights are respected in care and decision-making. The guide emphasises personalised care plans and the protection of key rights such as freedom from discrimination, privacy, and liberty, empowering young people to advocate for themselves with practical advice and case studies.

The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps disabled people moving. It’s delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
