British Ice Skating has launched a new initiative to increase participation among individuals who are disabled and those with long-term health conditions.
The three-year pilot project will support the purchase of accessibility equipment, development of inclusive resources, staff training and the appointment of dedicated Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion personnel.
This initiative further builds on the organisation's recent progress in accessibility and inclusion. In 2023, British Ice Skating introduced inclusive learning pathways within its flagship Learn to Skate programme, Skate UK, in partnership with Activity Alliance, ensuring a more adaptable experience for all learners.
British Ice Skating President Robin Cousins says: “Our goal is to turn challenges into opportunities, so that everyone who wants to experience the joy of skating can do so.”
