STEP 1

Start with clean, dry pots. Use masking tape to mark clean lines around the top rim. This will help guide your paint and give your finished pots a sleek, two-tone look.

STEP 2

Use a medium brush to apply your first coat of base colour to the lower half of the pot. White works beautifully as a backdrop for bolder rim shades.

STEP 3

Once the first coat has dried, paint the entire base again for full, even coverage. Aim for a smooth, matte finish and let it dry completely before the next step.

STEP 4

Peel off the tape, reapply where needed, and paint the rim in a contrasting hue. You can even mix different colours across your pots for a playful collection.

STEP 5

Allow your pots to dry fully. For outdoor use, give them a quick coat of clear sealant to weatherproof your work. Wait a few hours before planting.

STEP 6

Fill each pot with fresh soil and tuck in your plants - pink petunias, violet balloon flowers or cascading calibrachoa all look stunning. Water.
