Getting competitive with Team BRIT

This year marks the second season we've supported Team BRIT, the world's only competitive racing team entirely made up of disabled drivers. This ground-breaking team proves that disability doesn't limit potential. With the right tools, opportunities and support, there's no limit to what people can achieve.

Two Team BRIT drivers, Aaron Morgan and rising star Noah Cosby, are Motability Scheme customers. Our sponsorship helps Noah develop his promising racing career, which took a big leap forward this season when he started driving a McLaren 570S GT4. Off the racetrack, his Motability Scheme vehicle helps him maintain independence, whether he's travelling to races, attending training sessions or working on his brilliant art projects.

This year, we brought Team BRIT closer to our customers than ever before. At all three Motability Scheme Live events, visitors met the drivers, had a look inside the cars, tested their skills on racing simulators and competed for the chance to win a real track day experience. Team BRIT drivers shared how they use the Motability Scheme to stay independent, not just on race days but in everyday life. From heading to training sessions and races, to getting out and about with family and friends, the Scheme helps them stay in control and enjoy activities on their own terms.

Behind the scenes, we also visited Team BRIT's headquarters to compare our vehicle adaptations first-hand, exploring how these innovations make driving accessible for everyone, including Scheme customers. Together, the Motability Scheme and Team BRIT are changing perceptions about disability and mobility, on the track, at events and in everyday life.

Powering participation with British Wheelchair Basketball

Our support for British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) is helping people all over the UK discover the joy and confidence that comes from inclusive sport. Wheelchair basketball is a sport that truly brings people together, with disabled and non-disabled players competing side by side. It's a great way to improve fitness, make friends and build community. To help more people get involved, we're supporting grassroots clubs across the UK. BWB's Club Finder tool makes it easy for anyone to give the sport a try, whether they're returning to the game, starting something new or just want to stay active. Every club is welcoming and ready to help new players settle in, so use the finder to locate your local club and come and have a go!

We're also proud to support the Motability Scheme Inspire League, a friendly, competitive space for new and developing players. Local clubs host match days in an inclusive 5v5 format, perfect for building skills and confidence. It's a great place for new players, coaches and officials to grow, with plenty of support from experienced mentors.

Many of our customers use their Scheme vehicle to get to training sessions and matches, including Kirsty from the Bears team. Kirsty told us how the Scheme has made it easier to stay active, compete, and be part of her local basketball community. The Motability Scheme and BWB are helping more people feel confident, connected and included, both on and off the basketball court.

Supporting inclusion with Scottish Disability Sport

Right now, nearly one in five disabled people in Scotland are doing no physical activity at all, according to the Scottish Disability Sport National Survey. That's why we work with Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) to help disabled people get into sport. Whether people are aiming for personal bests or simply staying active, our partnership with SDS helps build confidence and wellbeing and offers the chance to grow. We're bringing inclusive sport to local communities by supporting SDS Parasport Festivals and creating change through inclusive training for PE teachers, coaches and volunteers. This November, join us in celebrating Scottish Disability Sport Week, a campaign that shows how and why disabled people in Scotland should get active. We're proud to support our customers, and many others, as they reach their goals, on and off the field.

With our partners, the Motability Scheme is helping more people move, play and achieve. Sport has the power to change lives. And we're making sure everyone has the chance to take part.

The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps disabled people moving. It’s delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
